Some teeth are harder to take care of than others. The molars and premolars in the back of the mouth, for example, have multiple grooves and pits where food particles and bacteria can become trapped. Younger children who are still figuring out how to brush and floss well are particularly prone to developing cavities in these teeth. We may recommend painting on a layer of dental sealant over vulnerable teeth, where it will harden and block out bacteria and harmful substances. The procedure is straightforward, painless, and can be completed during a single appointment.
